Hairy bits
hairylegsclub:
It took me five years between wanting to stop removing my body hair and being able to go out in public all hairy like. Maybe if I’d seen a blog like this back then it wouldn’t have taken so long. Solidarity to all hairy and would-be hairy ladies.
hairylegsclub:
I took some proper pics of my fuzzies! :)
I’ve also been trying to think of experiences I could share with you all. I can’t really think of anything, except a brief summary of why I stopped shaving and what it was like to show my legs in public.
I used to be a firm believer in that “shaving should be a choice, not a requirement”, and even though I despised beauty standards...

I wish everyone could try to not be nasty when we’re all trying to be on the same side. It makes me terrified that if i make a mistake i’ll be totally torn down and destroyed. it makes it feel as though it’s not even worth it sometimes. :(
Some comments were more ‘nasty’, while others displayed considerable calm and level-headedness in such a time of crisis. I don’t blame people for...
ahh! i keep getting the hard topics
now i have to talk to the women tomorrow about STIs and HIV/AIDS. So hard to talk about sex when I don’t know the culture very well.
Things like homosexuality, prostitution and multiple partners might be really hard to talk about without alienating my audience. On the other hand, they might be super open (like they have been about everything else).
gysadevntures replied to your post: argh… this is hard… how do you explain to people…
I completely understand what you mean with this situation. Some of the simpliest concepts, although lifechanging, are very difficult to get across to people with minimal education.
it frustrates me especially when I think that they may well all be heaps smarter than me.
I think I worked out a way to...
argh… this is hard…
how do you explain to people with little education or money, through a translator, that if they’ve got diabetes, they need to take their medication (if they’ve got it), but their medication can make them sick if they don’t have a regular, healthy diet too…
i want them to keep taking meds, and not feel bad for not being able to afford good...
During our time in Cambodia at the Military handicap development centre, there are three rotations that we can do, field, clinic and school. I’ve done the field (mostly door-to-door data collection to see if they have soap and access to water and things like that and health assessments) and the clinic (self explanatory) and now I’m at the school. We teach some adults who come in the...
another person who said they “saw me on tumblr” tried to add me on skype… i’ll reiterate what I said before - if you want to talk to me, message or email me. I don’t do skype with strangers.

So it’s like major part of my life vs being hated and made to feel bad…

that is ridiculous.
dear person who saw me here
and added me on skype.
I’m really sorry, I have no idea who you are, and I don’t tend to add randoms, because I’m not a big chat sort of person anyway. I’m definitely not a talking-to-strangers-on-the-phone person. I’m quite shy.
but if you do want to talk, feel free to shoot me a message in my ask box! or an email.
frustrating
when people talk to the translators in super simplified english with an almost babying voice…
they can speak nearly fluent english and are probably smarter than you, stfu and show some respect.
headaches.
I have had a headache every evening since i got here.
before I left, I had a headache for 4 days straight.
i’m starting to worry.

Do you find that when you wear thigh high (or knee high) socks, or tights, or long-johns, that your legs get achey cause the hairs have been pulled a certain way? If so, is it something you eventually got used to? Cause I feel like I should be used to this by now. D:
I find it easier to just never wear clothes?

Like Bob Marley said, “One thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain.” That is most likely because of the dopamine, Mr. Marley. I have had this experience, where I swear I’ve just taken an upper, but really it’s...

apparently the girls were talking about me and they said I was funny… as in humorous funny… not strange funny.
how nice :)
I don’t tend to think of myself as funny… I don’t think most people “get” my humour. so that’s nice.
convert
I have converted someone to feminism!
She was telling me today about how upset she got when she encountered a domestic abuse situation in the field in cambodia whilst doing some health assessment data collection in the community we’re working in. She realised that my influence over the last few years has made her more aware, which in turn made her realise just how fucked up this particular...

They do make flavoured condoms that are sugar-less, so you could use those, although I suppose whatever they use to flavour the condoms could also possibly cause a yeast infection. Regardless of all of that, this is probably a good thing to know.
I wonder: Do flavored condoms actually taste, you know, yummy?
Not in my experience…they taste...
conversation between parts of my brain
one part: i need to sit down and write this talk
other part: i wanna go and find people to talk to, or sit somewhere else and read my book
other part: lalalallala i'm just playing on tumblr, nothing else to do lalalalallla in denial lalalalala
other part: i'm so anxious about this shit i could throw up
other part: wtf is wrong with me?
i wonder this every single time
why can’t i just sit down and write what i need to write?
People’s lack of concern about contributing to cruelty always astounds me.
As a group we went to see the temples at Ankor Wat. You can have an elephant ride there, and many of the others wanted to have a go. I wasn’t keen, but went along with them to where you get on the elephant. I saw that the elephants were being steered by their handlers with big sticks with spikes on the...

I completely understand that. I need my alone time so badly…when I was living in the UK, I had this roommate who talked all the time. Luckily, I’d escape to the park near by. Or I would wander aimlessly…I loved those days.
I’d like to do that too, but since it’s a uni thing, they’re concerned for our safety and have...
also - i’m complaining on tumblr because I don’t have the privacy or people to complain to IRL.
I’m not going to use tumblr to talk about all my wonderful experiences here - I might write about some, but those are really going into my journal.
tumblr i’m keeping for a venting space, and for an escape space.
WOO for wireless internet in my room!!!

Has been awesome so far.
But man, it’s hard for an introvert to travel with a group. OMG, enough bitchy gossip, and dear roommate - please fucking shut up for 10 minutes. Can’t you see I’m “busy” on my computer and I don’t feel like talking to you right now. My monosyllabic replies are a polite hint that I don’t feel like talking.
